Modder ‘CreeperLava’ has released new versions of the ALOT, A Lot Of Textures, mod for both Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3. These mods significantly improve the textures of various environments and characters, and they are a must for everyone that is replaying Bioware’s older RPGs.

According to the release notes, the new version for Mass Effect 2 adds ClearanceClarence’s textures for the Omega asteroid and Collector armor, and replaces Miranda’s textures with JimbobJeffers’s. On the other hand, the Mass Effect 3 version adds MaryseDynasty’s Tali textures for all four of her armours (default, alternate, from ashes, casino), replaces Cerberus units, Reapers and Garrus with ClearanceClarence’s textures, updates Miranda’s textures with JimbobJeffers’ newest Ultimate Miri update, adds an optional file to revert Tali’s textures to how they were before (in case some prefer the old ones), adds a bunch of new textures, among others Vorcha, Talon armour and environmental textures, fixes the alpha on some of the Normandy’s walls and fixes the seam on James’ face.

Basically, this is a minor update for Mass Effect 2 and a pretty good update for Mass Effect 3. Let’s not forget that these packs have already more than 1200 textures in Mass Effect 2 and more than 2400 textures in Mass Effect 3.

  • CreeperLava said that the Texture Pack for Mass Effect 2 updates 1200 high resolution (2K, 4K) textures. On the other hand, the one for Mass Effect 3 features 2200 high resolution.
  • As previously stated, vanilla Mass Effect 2 uses many effects to make the game look better by obscuring low-quality details. All this mod does is rebalance brightness in the game’s settings, revealing previously unseen details. Especially if you also install the HD textures add-on.
  • This is a 4096x4096 texture mod for Garrus in Mass Effect 2. It requires Texmod to run, as Mass Effect 2 is not mod-friendly. Garrus high resolution texture mod textures.

These low res textures are sometimes in the foreground, sometimes in the background, seem to be random. Whats the deal with this game?
